On Tuesday, April 23, 2024, the Hunt County Sheriff's Office responded to reports of a disturbance at a residence near FM 1565 and County Road 2546. Before deputies arrived, the suspect, identified as Carl Chase Wheeler, fled on foot, evading capture. The Tawakoni Police Department assisted in the search, deploying a drone to aid in locating the suspect.
After approximately 30 minutes, officers spotted Wheeler attempting to cross a nearby road and apprehended him without resistance.
Carl Chase Wheeler, a 39-year-old resident of Quinlan, Texas, was taken into custody and booked into the Hunt County Detention Center. He faces charges of assault causing bodily injury, assault class C by contact, and evading arrest detention. His bond has been set at $5,000.
