Texas A&M University-Commerce Mourns Passing of Football Student-Athlete

Texas A&M University-Commerce is grieving the loss of football student-athlete Keith Miller III, who tragically passed away in his apartment near campus on Thursday evening.

The Lion community extends its deepest sympathy to Keith's family, friends, and teammates during this difficult time.

"We are heartbroken by Keith's unexpected passing," said head coach Clint Dolezel. "Keith was a beloved father, son, teammate, and student-athlete. We extend our deepest sympathies and sincere condolences to his family, friends, teammates, and all who loved him at this very difficult time."

Keith Miller, known for his infectious smile and personality, was a valued member of the Lion football program for two years and served as a team captain during the 2023 season.

"We are shocked and saddened to learn of the sudden passing of Keith Miller. The A&M-Commerce community extends its deepest condolences to Keith's family and those who knew and loved him," said Director of Athletics Jim Curry. "Words are hard to come by at this moment, but we ask that you keep those impacted by this tragedy in your thoughts and prayers."

Miller is from The Colony, Texas and played at The Colony High School where he was a standout wide receiver.  He completed two freshman years at the University of Colorado tbefore transfering to Texas A&M University-Commerce. 

“We are deeply saddened by the passing of former Buff, Keith Miller. Our thoughts are with his family, friends, and teammates.", posted the University of Colorado on their Instagram page.

In response to the loss, the A&M-Commerce Counseling Center has expanded its services to support students in need of guidance or assistance during this challenging time.
