Paris Junior College (PJC) is offering a significant boost to graduating high school seniors in its service area by doubling down on summer scholarships. The initiative aims to cover tuition and fees for any two courses offered during the Summer I, II, Long, or Extended terms.
Baleigh McCoin, the Director of Institutional Advancement/Alumni Affairs at PJC, emphasized the importance of these scholarships in enabling students to continue their academic pursuits and stay aligned with their goals. McCoin expressed gratitude towards donors and the PJC Foundation Board for making this opportunity possible.
The scholarship presents a valuable chance for students to either pursue courses that transfer to universities or acquire workforce skills. Eligibility for the scholarship extends to high school seniors graduating this year within the Paris Junior College service area, which includes Delta, Hopkins, Hunt, Lamar, Red River, and parts of Fannin counties (Fannindel and Honey Grove ISDs).
Many of the courses offered during the summer are part of the Texas State Core Curriculum, facilitating seamless transfer to Texas public universities, or are geared towards workforce programs providing career training in under two years.
The summer terms vary in duration, with Summer Long starting on May 16 and concluding on August 15. Summer I and Summer Extended both commence on June 3, with respective end dates of July 9 and August 15. Summer II begins on July 15 and ends on August 15.
Registration for summer classes opens on April 1, and the deadline to submit the online scholarship application is May 31, offering students ample time to avail themselves of this opportunity.
