On Friday, March 29th, at approximately 9:00 P.M., a DPS Trooper named Dobbs pulled over a red Jeep on Martin Luther King Avenue in Sulphur Springs. The reason for the stop was the vehicle's tail lamps not being turned on. Upon approaching the vehicle, Trooper Dobbs noticed a strong smell of marijuana inside. Consequently, Dobbs asked all occupants to exit the vehicle for a search based on probable cause.
During the search, Dobbs found a "blue jean" fabric purse belonging to Faith Fears in the second row on the passenger side. Inside the purse, there was a clear plastic baggie containing a green leafy substance, an open bottle of Hennessey, and a THC vape pen filled with a thick, sticky liquid. As a result, Faith Fears, a 19-year-old from Renton, Texas, was promptly arrested and booked into the Hopkins County Detention Center.
Fears faces charges of possession of a controlled substance less than 1 gram (POSS CS PG 2 < 1G) and possession of marijuana less than 2 ounces (POM <2OZ).
