Sulphur Springs Police officers responded to reports of a vehicle crashing into a residence in the 300 block of N Davis Street and discovered a stolen Chevrolet Traverse had collided with a tree in a front yard.
Victor Ramirez-Hernandez was identified as the suspect, having been seen earlier in the day wearing the same clothes and mentioning plans to travel to Dallas. The owners of the stolen vehicle confirmed its ownership upon arrival.
Ramirez-Hernandez was taken to Christus Trinity Mother Francis Hospital by EMS and later transferred to Hopkins County Jail. Investigations revealed he unlawfully entered a residence on Houston Street to steal the vehicle keys. Ramirez-Hernandez, 26, faces charges of burglary of habitation and unauthorized use of a vehicle. He remains in custody at the Hopkins County Detention Center.
