On Wednesday, March 20, 2024, a Wolfe City middle school student was struck by a vehicle while on their way to school. The incident took place at an intersection where a school bus was also present, though it was not involved in the accident.
The student was attended to, and paramedics airlifted them to a Dallas hospital for further medical care. In response to the incident, Wolfe City Independent School District (ISD) has initiated support services for students, staff, and their families, offering counseling to those affected.
Donna Pessel, the Superintendent of Wolfe City ISD, expressed condolences and urged community members to seek assistance if needed. "We are a close-knit community, and I know how terrible accidents like this can weigh heavy on our hearts. Please do not hesitate to reach out if you or your child need support," said Pessel in a statement.
