Sisters' Squabble Turns Violent, Leads to Arrest for Assault

Shannon Nicole McGill

On Monday, March 18, 2024, Sulphur Springs Police Officers were summoned to an address following reports of a physical altercation. Dispatch received a call where two females were heard engaging in a physical fight over the phone.

Upon arrival at the scene around 08:54 hours, officers could discern heated exchanges between two females within the apartment. The officers intervened to separate the individuals, and additional law enforcement personnel arrived to provide support.

According to the victim, identified as the sister of the arrestee, an argument with her sibling escalated into a physical confrontation. She recounted being struck multiple times and subjected to pushing and kicking by the arrestee. The victim, who displayed visible injuries including small cuts and scratches on her face and forehead, as well as a cut inside her lip, also had her wig torn off during the altercation, leaving adhesive residue along her hairline.

While investigating the incident, deputies reviewed security footage which, though not capturing the physical altercation itself, depicted the arrestee as the primary aggressor who refused to disengage from the confrontation.

In light of the familial relationship between the victim and the arrestee, coupled with evidence pointing to an assault, the arrestee, identified as Shannon Nicole McGill, was taken into custody. McGill was restrained with double locked handcuffs, searched, and transported to the Hopkins County Jail.

She faces charges of Assault Causing Bodily Injury/Family Violence in connection with the incident.
