On March 17, 2024, just before 8:00 PM, officers from the Sulphur Springs Police Department responded to an incident on S Locust St. Upon arrival, they made contact with a victim who reported being assaulted by a person known to her.
According to the victim, identified as a 78-year-old resident of the household, her son, 51-year-old Rowdy J. Anderson, intentionally assaulted her by repeatedly striking her in the face with a closed fist, causing injury.
Anderson was promptly arrested at the scene and taken into custody. Due to the victim's age, Anderson was charged with injury to an elderly person. He was transported to the Hopkins County Jail without any further incident.
The charges against Anderson include Injury to Elderly with Intent to cause Bodily Injury with a bond set at $15,000.
