On Thursday, March 14th, around 10:00 pm, a Hopkins County Sheriff's Deputy on routine patrol spotted a vehicle speeding at 93 MPH on Highway 154, heading southbound.
The deputy attempted to pull over the speeding vehicle, activating emergency lights and sirens. However, instead of stopping, the vehicle accelerated. The deputy notified the communications team and initiated a pursuit.
During the chase, the driver began overtaking other vehicles by driving on the right shoulder. Eventually, the driver tried to turn onto County Road 1178 but lost control of the vehicle, crashing into a pipe fence.
The driver, identified as 21-year-old Patrick Glenn Allen from Quitman, Texas, was apprehended without further incident and taken into custody.
Allen has been booked into the Hopkins County Detention Center and is facing charges of evading arrest detention with a vehicle.
