Hunt County Sheriff's Deputies attempted to stop a vehicle for a traffic violation on Tuesday, March 12, 2024. The driver, identified as 50-year-old Kevin James Smith of Quinlan, ignored the attempt and sped away in an attempt to evade the deputy. Following a brief pursuit, the vehicle was stopped.
Smith was found to be driving with an invalid license due to suspension and had an open warrant for his arrest related to a Revocation of Parole from a drug conviction dating back to 2015. He now faces an additional charge of evading arrest detention with a vehicle.
Bond for Smith was set at $21,500, but due to the Revocation of Parole, bond was denied. As a result, he remains incarcerated in the Hunt County Jail.
