Woman Arrested in Hopkins County for Meth During Traffic Stop

Ashley Nicole Luther

On March 6, 2024, authorities conducted a traffic stop at FM 69 N and CR 3518 in Hopkins County after observing a Ram 1500 failing to maintain a single lane. The driver, identified as Ashley Floyd, exhibited suspicious behavior during the encounter.

The Deputy noticed Floyd sweating profusely, avoiding eye contact, and appearing impatient. Floyd also expressed the need to use the restroom multiple times. Despite denying consent to search the vehicle, Floyd was asked to exit the vehicle.

A K-9 unit was deployed, and Deputy Fisher's canine partner alerted to the presence of narcotics. Upon conducting a search, deputies discovered a glass pipe commonly used for methamphetamine, containing a white crystal-like substance believed to be methamphetamine.

Floyd was placed under arrest and informed of her rights. Subsequently, she admitted to possessing narcotics and surrendered them to the authorities. A clear baggie containing a crystal-like substance, also believed to be methamphetamine, was found on her person.

The evidence, including the narcotics, was secured, and Floyd was transported to the Hopkins County Jail. Upon testing, the substance field-tested positive for methamphetamine and weighed approximately 3.423 grams, including packaging.

Ashley Luther, also known as Ashley Floyd, was booked into the Hopkins County Jail on charges of possession of a controlled substance, Penalty Group 1, in an amount between 1 and 4 grams. Her bond was set at $10,000.
