Two Hopkins County Commissioner races for Precincts 1 and 3 remain undecided following the recent election as no candidate secured more than 50% of the vote. In Precinct 1, Incumbent Mickey Barker garnered 567 votes (34.83%), falling short of a majority. Barker will compete in a runoff against challenger Wesley Miller, who received 605 votes (37.16%). Steven “Big” Smith, the third contender, received 456 votes (28.01%), missing the threshold for a runoff.
Similarly, in the Precinct 3 Commissioner race, William (Bill) Holden narrowly missed an outright win, securing 707 votes (48.56%). His closest competitor, Travis Thompson, received 582 votes (39.97%). Lance Knotts trailed with 167 votes (11.47%). Holden and Thompson will participate in a runoff election scheduled for May 28, 2024.
