Hopkins County Deputies responded to a call regarding an assault on Monday, March 4, 2024, at a residence on CR 4760. Upon arrival, they spoke to a Hispanic woman who reported being struck in the face with a beer bottle. The woman, identified as the victim, had dried blood on her face and around her nose. She stated that her ex-husband, Israel Gonzalez, had thrown the beer bottle at her, causing cuts.
According to the victim, a fight ensued between her current husband and Israel. Deputies eventually made contact with Israel, who appeared to be untruthful during their conversation. After considering testimonial and physical evidence, deputies determined Israel was the main aggressor and arrested him.
Israel Gonzalez, 32, of Sulphur Springs, Texas, was booked into the Hopkins County Detention Center on charges of assault causing bodily injury to a family member.
