Hopkins County Starts Early Voting for March 5th Primary

Early voting for the March 5th primary is now open in Hopkins County, offering voters the opportunity to cast their ballots not only for local offices but also for state-wide and presidential positions.

Registered Republicans will have a comprehensive ballot to consider, with 22 offices and 13 non-binding ballot propositions. Conversely, Democrats will see 13 offices on their ballot with no ballot propositions.

Many Republican races will effectively decide the eventual officeholder as there are no Democratic challengers slated for the future general election.

In the State House Representative District 2 primary, Jill Dutton, the incumbent, faces a challenge from Brent Money on the Republican primary ballot. Kristen Washington is running unopposed for the same seat on the Democratic primary ballot.

Several local offices on the Republican primary ballot have no Democratic challengers, including:

  • 8th Judicial District Judge: Eddie Northcutt
  • 62nd Judicial District Judge: Will Biard
  • District Attorney, 8th Judicial District: Will Ramsay
  • County Attorney: Dustanna Hyde Rabe
  • Sheriff: Johnny Paul “JP” Moseley, Lewis Tatum
  • County Tax Assessor-Collector: Chasity Campbell
  • County Commissioner, Precinct 1: Wesley Miller, Steven Big Smith, Mickey Barker
  • County Commissioner, Precinct 3: Travis Thompson, Lance Knotts, William (Bill) Holden
  • Constable, Precinct 1: Dennis L. Findley, Chris Hill
  • Constable, Precinct 2: John Brian Beadle
  • County Chair: Donnie W. Wisenbaker

Voters residing in Precincts 1 and 2 will cast ballots for Constable, Precinct 1, while those in Precincts 3 and 4 will vote for Constable, Precinct 2.
