Kaufman County Sheriff Bryan Beavers has issued a reminder to residents regarding the importance of maintaining property fences for community safety. The Sheriff emphasized that poorly maintained fences can lead to livestock straying onto roadways, posing risks to both animals and motorists.
The Sheriff's Office revealed that since the beginning of the year, they have received 162 cow and horse-related calls for service. In the previous year, 2023, there were a total of 1986 such calls, averaging around 165 calls per month.
To reduce the occurrence of livestock-related incidents, the Sheriff urged residents to ensure that their fences are secured, gates are properly latched, and any damages are promptly addressed.
These preventive measures, according to Sheriff Beavers, not only safeguard communities but also alleviate the strain on emergency services. The Sheriff concluded by emphasizing the importance of collective efforts in fostering a safer environment for everyone in Kaufman County.
