NACOGDOCHES, Texas — An 18-year-old wanted in connection with a triple homicide in Nacogdoches has been taken into custody in Mexico and returned to Texas to face multiple charges, authorities said.
Jared Garcia of Nacogdoches was arrested April 29 in the Mexican state of Tamaulipas through a coordinated effort involving local, state and federal law enforcement agencies in both countries.
Garcia had been indicted by a Nacogdoches County grand jury on a murder charge tied to a shooting that occurred Oct. 24, 2025, on Hackberry Street. Authorities said three teenagers were killed in that incident: 17-year-old Dequavious LeCharles Brooks, 18-year-old Edward Alejandro Rivera and 16-year-old Emilio Perez.
U.S. authorities took custody of Garcia at the Hidalgo Port of Entry and transported him to the Hidalgo County Jail.
In addition to the murder indictment, Garcia is also facing charges of theft of a firearm and possession of a controlled substance in a drug-free zone. Officials said his previous bond had been revoked, and his new bond has been set at $1.2 million.
The investigation remains ongoing.
