ROCKWALL, Texas — Two individuals, including a Rowlett police officer, have been arrested following an investigation into an alleged assault at a Rockwall establishment, according to the Rockwall Police Department.
The case began April 19 when a female victim reported an assault that occurred during the early morning hours at a business in the 2800 block of Ridge Road (FM 740). Detectives conducted an investigation that led to arrest warrants for 35-year-old Marquale Dijon Pierson and his wife, 35-year-old Samantha Gabrielle Pierson.
Both suspects were arrested on Friday morning, May 1st, and booked into the Rockwall County Detention Center. They are charged with assault causing bodily injury, a Class A misdemeanor.
Investigators said Marquale Pierson was employed as a police officer with the Rowlett Police Department at the time of the incident. The Texas Commission on Law Enforcement (TCOLE) records show that he has been with the agency since March 23, 2018.
Officials clarified that the alleged assault occurred while Pierson was off duty.
The Rowlett Police Department stated that upon learning of the investigation, the officer was placed on administrative leave and a Professional Standards investigation was initiated.
Rockwall police said the case remains under investigation and credited the Rowlett Police Department for its cooperation during the process.
