MARSHALL, Texas — A 50-year-old woman was arrested following an investigation into a reported threat involving Wiley University, according to the Marshall Police Department.

Police said the investigation began April 26 when officers responded to a disturbance on the university campus. During the incident, Marietta Denise Taylor allegedly made threatening statements in the presence of university security personnel directed at the school.

A joint investigation between Wiley University Police and the Marshall Police Department led to the issuance of an arrest warrant. Taylor was taken into custody April 29 without incident and booked into the Harrison County Jail on a charge of terroristic threat, a third-degree felony.

Authorities also announced a second arrest connected to the case. Jayla Unique Jackson, 24, was taken into custody May 1 and charged with criminal trespass.

Officials said the department takes threats of violence seriously and will continue working with law enforcement and community partners to ensure public safety.
