On February 12, 2023, Texas A&M - Commerce Police Officers apprehended Tanyla Naomi Thomas of Mesquite for possessing a weapon on school premises.
Subsequent investigations disclosed that the firearm was reported stolen.
Thomas was transported to Hunt County Jail and charged with possession of prohibited weapons in an area banned by law and firearm theft. As of now, no bond has been established.
