On Sunday, February 11th, just before 4 P.M., officers from the Sulphur Springs Police Department responded to a disturbance call in the 800 block of Church Street. Upon arrival, officers encountered Jordan Swindell and a woman. Despite initial reports of a disturbance, all parties involved stated it was a misunderstanding. However, officers detected a strong odor of marijuana.
After a brief investigation, it was revealed that Swindell and the woman had recently smoked marijuana. Upon searching Swindell's backpack, officers discovered several straws containing traces of a suspected controlled substance, found inside a small gray bag. Additionally, a glass pipe typically used for smoking methamphetamine was located, containing residue resembling methamphetamine. Several small clear baggies containing contraband were also found.
Consequently, 19-year-old Jordan River Swindell of Sulphur Springs, Texas, was taken into custody and booked into the Hopkins County Detention Center on charges of possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of a controlled substance, less than one gram. Swindell admitted ownership of the suspected methamphetamine residue found.
