Franklin County Deputies engaged in a high-speed pursuit on Interstate 30 Saturday night, February 10th, after a vehicle reported stolen from Mount Pleasant was spotted. One of the vehicles involved was later found abandoned near the Lowes Distribution Center in Mt Vernon.
Shortly after, two individuals, possibly white or Hispanic males, one wearing dark clothing and a dark hoodie, and the other in light-colored clothing, were observed fleeing southbound across I-30 near Franklin County Road SE 4115, opposite Lowes. They were last seen heading southeast in the vicinity of CR SE 4115, prompting a heavy law enforcement presence in the area.
Residents living in the vicinity of SE CR 4115, CR SE 4114, or the service road were urged to secure their residences, stay indoors, and bring unsecured dogs inside due to the upcoming deployment of tracking dogs. Those witnessing anything suspicious were advised to contact 911 immediately.
Law enforcement continued their search for a black 2008 BMW 528 4-door with Texas license plate SXV 1527. However, on Sunday morning, the Franklin County Sheriff announced that after extensive efforts involving numerous officers and tracking dogs, they no longer believed the suspects to be in the area.
Acknowledgment was given to the Texas Department of Criminal Justice's search dog team and all deputies, troopers, and officers who assisted in the operation. The sheriff also expressed gratitude to the citizens for their patience and cooperation during the incident.
