Commerce Man Arrested for Fentanyl-Related Murder

Hopkins County Deputies and DPS units executed an arrest in Commerce on Thursday morning, February 8, 2024, apprehending a suspect wanted for murder. Marques Dshawn Hood, 23, of Commerce, Texas, was the subject of the arrest.

The arrest was meticulously planned due to the seriousness of the allegations and concerns for safety.

Upon Hood's apprehension, investigators discovered a significant quantity of drugs, leading to additional charges of manufacturing and delivering a controlled substance (fentanyl).

The murder charge stems from an incident in Hopkins County where Hood allegedly sold fentanyl pills to the victim, resulting in their death. Hood's bond has been set at $1,100,000.
