Bicyclist Arrested for Drug Charges in Sulphur Springs After Riding Against Traffic

Stacy Lomon Allen

Sulphur Springs Police Officer conducted a pedestrian stop on a person operating a bicycle on a public roadway in the wrong lane of traffic, without proper lighting equipment. The operator, identified as 48-year-old Stacy Lomon Allen, emitted a strong odor of marijuana.

Upon voluntary retrieval of items from his pockets, a metal container fell, which Allen claimed contained marijuana. Allen became emotional and belligerent, leading to his detainment for officer safety. A subsequent search revealed suspected marijuana, a scale, a glass pipe with a substance resembling methamphetamine, suspected methamphetamine, empty baggies, and small U.S. currency.

Allen was arrested for manufacture or delivery of a controlled substance, read his Miranda Warning, and transported to Hopkins County jail by Sulphur Springs Police Department without incident. The suspected methamphetamine weighed approximately 20.00 grams.
