Sulphur Springs Traffic Stop Results in Methamphetamine Arrest

David Bryan Kull

On Friday evening, around 7:00 P.M., Deputy T. Steward from the Hopkins County Sheriff's Office initiated a routine traffic stop on a 2003 Chevrolet Pickup Truck. The stop was prompted by defective license plate lights and expired registration.

The driver of the vehicle, identified as 37-year-old David Bryan Kull, quickly pulled into a residence and exited the driver's seat. Deputy T. Steward explained the reason for the traffic stop to Kull, who was cooperative during the initial interaction.

Upon further investigation, the deputies requested consent to search the vehicle, but Kull declined. In response, K-9 Deputy Patterson was summoned to the scene. After a positive alert from the K-9 unit, a subsequent search of the vehicle led to the discovery of a clear baggie containing a crystal-like substance believed to be methamphetamine, located in the center console.

David Kull was taken into custody without incident and transported to the Hopkins County Detention Center. At the Sheriff's Office, the substance found in the vehicle tested positive for methamphetamine and weighed approximately 0.94 grams, including the packaging.
