Early Friday morning, February 2, 2024, a Hunt County Deputy initiated a traffic stop on I-30 Eastbound near CR 3106. The vehicle in question refused to comply, leading the Deputy on a slow-speed chase. Upon the vehicle coming to a stop, the Deputy attempted to make an arrest.
The suspect, identified as Jerit Joykumar of Carrollton, Texas, resisted arrest and engaged in a physical altercation with the Deputy. Additional law enforcement units, including Greenville PD, DPS, and extra Hunt County Deputies, responded to the scene for assistance.
A DPS Trooper arrived promptly and played a crucial role in successfully apprehending the suspect. A wrecker was called to tow the suspect's vehicle from the scene.
Subsequently, 27-year-old Jerit Joykumar, also known as Jerit Mattappallil-Joykumar, was booked into the Hunt County Detention Center.

- Evading Arrest Detention with a Vehicle
- Assault Peace Officer/Judge
- Resist Arrest Search or Transport
