Greenville Police Reunite Elderly Woman with Special Needs and Caretaker

In the early hours of Tuesday, January 30, 2024, officers from the Greenville Police Department responded to a welfare check on an elderly woman displaying signs of disorientation. The incident unfolded around 7:13 a.m. in the 5200 block of Wesley Street.

Upon reaching the scene, officers engaged with the individual and suspected a possible medical condition falling within the parameters of the Greenville Police Department Special Needs Database. A quick search revealed the woman's information in the database, enabling the officers to contact her caretaker.

The caretaker, alerted by the police, arrived at the location and was joyfully reunited with the elderly woman. Subsequently, medical personnel assessed her condition before she left with the caretaker.

Authorities are encouraging caretakers in Greenville who have loved ones facing similar situations to consider providing information for the Special Needs Database. Individuals diagnosed with mental disabilities, impairments, intellectual disabilities, or developmental disorders may be eligible to sign up for this program.

For more details or to enroll in the Special Needs Database, interested individuals can reach out to Officer James Hamilton at (903) 453-0432 or via email at jhamilton@ci.greenville.tx.us.
