On January 9, 2024, at 2:00 p.m., a theft of a trailer and scrap metal was reported in the 200 block of W. Waco. The property owner informed authorities that the last sighting of the trailer on the property was on January 4, 2024. A week later, surveillance footage captured the suspect's vehicle returning to the scene to steal additional items from a shed.
Following the identification of the suspect's vehicle, deputies positively identified both the vehicle and the suspect. The alleged perpetrator was identified as 46-year-old Commerce resident, David Camacho. After the theft and burglaries, Camacho had relocated from a residence in Cooper to one in Commerce.

Deputies, in collaboration with the Commerce Police Department, located Mr. Camacho in Commerce and identified the partially concealed trailer behind a residence. Subsequently, Mr. Camacho was arrested and charged with State Jail Felony Possession of Stolen Property over $2,500 under $30,000. He later confessed to the crime and faced an additional charge of Burglary of a Building, also a State Jail Felony. Camacho is currently held on both charges in the Hunt County Jail.
During the arrest, deputies discovered stolen items from the shed in the back of Mr. Camacho's pickup truck, further linking him to the burglary. The trailer was successfully recovered and returned to its rightful owner.
In an unrelated development, two other individuals were taken into custody at the residence by the Commerce Police Department on unrelated charges.
"I would like to thank my staff for their exceptional work in solving this case and the Commerce Police Department for their assistance in the investigation and subsequent recovery of the trailer.", said Delta County Sheriff Charla Singleton in a statement.
