In honor of School Board Recognition Month, Sulphur Springs Independent School District (SSISD) is expressing gratitude to its Trustees for their dedicated commitment to teachers and staff.
The theme for this year's School Board Recognition Month, "Locally Elected, Community Connected," underscores the strong bond between school board trustees and their communities. This theme resonates well with SSISD's trustees, known for their community-oriented approach.
Over the past months, the SSISD Board of Trustees has played a crucial role in various significant decisions. They successfully guided the district in selecting a new superintendent and secured grants to purchase the first five air-conditioned buses, marking a notable enhancement for the district's transportation system. Additionally, the board received a perfect Financial Management Report score for the 13th consecutive year, a commendable achievement attributed to the collaboration with Sherry McGraw and the SSISD business office.
Expressing appreciation, Dr. Deana Steeber remarked, “Thank you for your heart, your service, and your time. I believe that the most powerful and profound gift that any of us have to offer is the gift of time. Thank you for your time,” acknowledging the valuable contributions of SSISD School Board Members.
SSISD Trustees serve three-year terms, with annual elections taking place in May. Following the May elections, the Board elects a president, vice president, and secretary to serve a one-year term. Monthly meetings are held at the Sulphur Springs ISD Administration Building, located at 631 Connally Street. The district celebrates the dedication and service of its Trustees during this School Board Recognition Month.
