City of Greenville Braces for Arctic Blast: Public Works Prepared for Drastic Temperature Drop

The City of Greenville is gearing up for anticipated inclement weather in North Texas, with forecasts predicting a significant drop in temperatures below freezing. The City's Public Works Department has a comprehensive plan in place to address potential hazardous road conditions.

Preparations include ensuring the sand spreader is operational, fueled, and ready for service. The City has also readied a backhoe, bucket truck, and all necessary equipment, with personnel on standby after hours and during the weekend to address any emerging situations.

In the event of weather-related utility issues such as frozen, leaking, or broken water piping, as well as blocked sewer piping on the City's service lines, prompt action will be taken. Customers can seek assistance during normal work hours, Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., by calling (903) 457-3152. For after-hours and weekend calls, residents may contact (903) 457-2900.

Residents are strongly advised to prepare for inclement weather by taking precautionary measures such as wrapping exposed pipes, protecting plants and shrubs, checking vehicle anti-freeze levels, and providing shelter for outdoor animals. Additionally, it is recommended to stock up on extra batteries for flashlights and radios and have a small supply of water and ready-to-eat foods in case of an extended utility service interruption.
