On January 9, 2024, Hunt County Sheriff Deputies, in collaboration with the Collin County Sheriff's Office, arrested 25-year-old Kaden Michael Wiegand of Quinlan. Wiegand had an outstanding warrant in Collin County related to the charge of publishing or threatening to publish intimate visual material, commonly referred to as revenge porn.
The arrest was carried out smoothly, and Wiegand is currently held in custody with a bond set at $10,000.
Revenge porn is categorized as a Class C misdemeanor in Texas, carrying a potential penalty of up to one year in jail and a $4,000 fine. For repeat offenders, the offense escalates to a Class A misdemeanor. In addition to criminal charges, defendants may also be held responsible for civil damages and required to cover the victim's court costs.
Wiegand is expected to face legal proceedings in accordance with the state laws governing revenge porn offenses.
