High-Speed Pursuit Ends in Arrest as Stolen Vehicle Unveiled in Mount Pleasant

Eduardo Flores

In a pursuit that unfolded on Tuesday, January 9, around 11:28 AM, Mount Pleasant Police Department (MPPD) officers attempted to stop a vehicle with a fictitious registration near 100 S Lee Avenue. The driver, identified as 40-year-old Eduardo Flores, failed to comply with the traffic stop, opting instead to evade the officers.

The pursuit extended into the east side of Titus County, back into Mount Pleasant city limits, and then again into the east side of the county. MPPD officers successfully deployed tire spikes to disable the vehicle, but Flores persisted in refusing to yield. Seeking additional support, MPPD called on the Department of Public Safety (DPS), who utilized a police intervention technique (PIT) to bring the chase to a halt on Highway 67 just east of FM 2348 (Chauncy Mays Highway).

Upon further investigation, officers discovered that the vehicle driven by Flores was reported stolen. Subsequently, Flores was apprehended and booked into the Titus County Jail on charges of Evading Arrest or Detention with Previous Conviction, Unauthorized Use of a Motor Vehicle, and Fictitious Registration.
