Hopkins County Chamber of Commerce Announces Community Awards Nominations and Upcoming Events

The Hopkins County Chamber of Commerce is currently accepting nominations for two prestigious community awards, Caregiver of the Year and Agriculturist of the Year, to be presented at the upcoming 97th Annual Membership Banquet. Nominations will be accepted until 4:00 pm on Monday, January 15. Those interested in submitting nominations can do so by sending a detailed letter outlining the nominee's accomplishments and characteristics to the Chamber at 110 Main St. or via email to Butch@HopkinsChamber.org.

The banquet, themed "Sweethearts," will take place on Thursday, February 15, at the Hopkins County Regional Civic Center. Social networking and a cocktail hour will kick off the evening at 6:00 pm, followed by food service at 6:30 pm, and the awards ceremony starting at 7:00 pm. Individual seats can be reserved for $30, or tables for ten are available for $500, offering preferential seating, name displays, and video recognition.

In addition to these events, work is nearing completion on the 2023 Hopkins County Chamber of Commerce Directory. The directory, which includes historical information and details about local businesses, will be distributed to over 7,000 recipients. Businesses interested in advertising opportunities within the directory can contact Echo Publishing through LeeAnn Peugh or reach out to the Chamber directly.

Candidate Forum

A candidate forum for Texas House District 2 Representative is scheduled for January 18 at 6:30 pm in the Sulphur Springs ISD Auditorium at the Hopkins County Civic Center. Hosted by Raise Your Hand Texas, the forum will feature candidates Jill Dutton and Brent Money addressing educational topics.

Mammography Screenings

For women in need of mammography screenings, Hunt Regional Healthcare's Tubby Adkisson Mobile Mammography Coach will be available at Winnsboro ISD on January 17 and Spring Village Shopping Center in Sulphur Springs on January 25. The Mobile Mammography Coach, which accepts all insurance used at Hunt Regional, offers reduced prepaid pricing of $200 for a 3D mammogram. Uninsured individuals can contact The Bridge Breast Network at 214-821-3820 for grant opportunities.

Ribbon-Cutting

Several ribbon-cutting ceremonies are also scheduled in the coming weeks. Salty Services will host a ribbon cutting at noon on Tuesday, January 16, at the Chamber office at 110 Main St. McAlister’s Deli will follow with a ribbon-cutting at 9:00 am on Thursday, January 24, at their restaurant located at 205 East Shannon Road. The Deep Routes Coffee and Shop the Springs will celebrate their first anniversary with a ribbon-cutting at 215 East Shannon Road at noon on Friday, January 19. All community members are invited to attend these events and show their support.
