In response to a disturbance call on Monday, January 1, 2024, a Hopkins County Deputy arrived at a local address to find a male and a female engaged in a physical altercation. The male subject, who displayed injuries to his face and neck, was immediately detained for scene safety.
Upon further investigation, the deputy approached the female, identified as Jayden Lyn Mishael Thomas of Sulphur Springs, who was on the ground and screaming. For scene safety, she was also detained. The male subject, revealing bruises and bite marks, informed deputies that Jayden had become violent and attacked him after consuming alcohol.
According to the male, he attempted to restrain Jayden to prevent further harm, but she continued to assault him. He claimed she even tried to cut him with a reciprocating saw and a broken pair of sunglasses, resulting in injuries to his neck. Witnesses on the scene corroborated the male's account.
In contrast, Jayden asserted that she was acting in self-defense. However, after interviews with the victim and witnesses, deputies determined that Jayden was the primary aggressor. Consequently, she was taken into custody and transported to the Hopkins County Jail.
Jayden now faces charges of aggravated assault on a family member with a weapon causing serious bodily injury. The investigation into the incident is ongoing.
