Fatal Overdose Leads to Murder Charges: Two Arrested in Hopkins County Drug Investigation

In a grim turn of events, 21-year-old Braden Wooten was discovered deceased in his residence on Saturday, December 23, 2023. Initial findings at the scene revealed the presence of pills suspected to contain the potent synthetic opioid, Fentanyl.

Law enforcement officials swiftly launched an investigation to trace the origin of the contraband that led to Wooten's tragic demise. Over the past two days, significant progress has been made, resulting in the apprehension of two suspects believed to be involved in delivering the deadly substance.

The arrested individuals have been identified as 23-year-old Xavier John Hill and 21-year-old Bryson Devonte Lacey. Both now face charges of Murder in connection with Braden Wooten's death. Law enforcement officials have set a bond of 1 million dollars for each suspect.

Sheriff Tatum, emphasizing the severity of the situation, issued a stern warning to the public. Anyone found guilty of delivering illegal drugs in Hopkins County that result in a fatal overdose will be charged with murder.
