On December 22, 2023, two men were booked into the Hunt County Detention Center in unrelated incidents involving family violence.

The first arrest involved 34-year-old Corey James Douglas of Royse City. Hunt County Sheriff Deputies apprehended Douglas at the 9900 block of County Road 2448. He faces charges of arson and making terroristic threats to family members. Douglas has a history of violence, having been previously arrested in 2021 by the Hunt County Sheriff's Office for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and family violence.

Simultaneously, on the same day, 28-year-old Chance Lane Barbee of Celeste was arrested by Celeste Police Officers at the 100 block of S. 8th Street. Barbee is charged with assault causing bodily injury in a family violence context. Notably, he had been arrested earlier on January 6, 2023, by Hunt County Sheriff Deputies for the same charge and an additional charge of violating a protective order. At the time of his earlier arrest, Barbee was residing in Arlington, Texas.
