Hopkins County Sheriff's Office, in collaboration with Texas DPS, Mt. Pleasant Police Department, and the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), successfully conducted a two-day undercover online operation in November 2023. The joint effort aimed at identifying individuals seeking to engage in sexual acts with children resulted in three immediate arrests during the first week of the operation.
Following the ongoing investigations, authorities identified Darryl Wayne Wilkins, a 42-year-old resident of Longview, as a suspect. Wilkins was apprehended in Gregg County on December 14, 2023 and subsequently transported back to the Hopkins County Jail on December 19, 2023.
Wilkins is facing charges of online solicitation of a minor for sexual conduct and parole violation. His bond has been set at $100,000, and he is currently in custody at the Hopkins County Jail.
