Commerce Police Department Celebrates Two Civilians Becoming Certified State Peace Officers

Giovanni Morgan and Anah Reeves

In a significant achievement, Giovanni Morgan and Anah Reeves have attained certification as state peace officers. This accomplishment follows their successful completion of the Police Academy at Texas A&M University-Commerce.

In the Spring of 2023, Chief of Police Kalei Beelitz initiated a program in collaboration with The City of Commerce. This program allowed civilians to apply for positions within the Commerce Police Department, offering them the opportunity to learn about the department while simultaneously attending the Police Academy at Texas A&M University-Commerce on a full-time basis. The Commerce Police Department generously sponsored their tuition throughout the duration of the academy.

Both Mr. Morgan and Ms. Reeves completed the rigorous training at Texas A&M University-Commerce and were officially sworn in as state peace officers yesterday.

This achievement also marks a milestone for Chief Beelitz and the Commerce Police Department, highlighting the success of the program in its inaugural year.
