Hopkins County Deputies initiated a traffic inquiry on Interstate 30 Westbound involving a 2017 Chrysler 300 after spotting a counterfeit temporary license plate on the vehicle. Upon further examination, it was revealed that the temporary license plate did not match the vehicle's description. The driver, identified as 22-year-old Lakeith Williams, evaded the traffic stop by fleeing from the scene.
Williams led law enforcement on a high-speed chase westbound on Interstate 30, reaching speeds of approximately 130mph. Authorities successfully deployed spike strips near the Cumby truck stop at FM 499 and I-30, forcing the suspect to stop. Williams then abandoned the stolen Chrysler 300 and attempted to escape on foot.
Deputies, with additional resources, quickly launched a manhunt and successfully apprehended Williams. Further investigation confirmed that the Chrysler 300 had been reported stolen from Little Rock, Arkansas. During questioning, Williams admitted to driving the stolen vehicle and fleeing from law enforcement officers.
22-year-old Lakeith Kavon Williams of Little Rock, Arkansas, has been booked into the Hopkins County Detention Center on charges of evading arrest detention with a vehicle and unauthorized use of a vehicle.
