In the late hours of December 13, 2023, law enforcement officials from the Hopkins County Sheriff’s Department engaged in a pursuit following a traffic violation at the intersection of West Gate St and Haygood St in Como, TX. Observing a vehicle failing to stop, deputies activated their overhead lights to initiate a traffic stop on Haywood St (Como).
The pursued vehicle, however, continued its journey onto Hwy 11 E without stopping, subsequently proceeding onto 69 South, evading law enforcement with lights and sirens activated. Deputies maintained pursuit into Wood County, where speeds exceeded 100 mph. The vehicle navigated through Hwy 515 and county roads in Wood County before circling back towards the city of Winnsboro.
The incident concluded in the Winnsboro PD parking lot, where deputies conducted a felony takedown and apprehended two occupants. The driver, identified as 37-year-old Eual Hayes III, was taken into custody for Evading Arrest or Detention with a Motor Vehicle (SJF) and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia (MC).
The passenger, identified as 32-year-old Brenda Durbin, was also taken into custody for Possession of Drug Paraphernalia (MC).
