Quinlan Man Arrested After Police Pursuit and Assault on Officer

Michael Louis Williams

On December 4, 2023, West Tawakoni Police Officers successfully apprehended 39-year-old Michael Louis Williams of Quinlan, who was wanted on suspicion of drug dealing. The arrest unfolded as officers approached Williams, who attempted to flee in his vehicle, leading to a pursuit that officers managed to stop.

During the arrest, Williams reportedly assaulted one of the officers. A subsequent search revealed he was in possession of a firearm. Consequently, Williams was taken into custody and transported to the Hunt County Jail.

Williams now faces a slew of charges, including evading arrest with a motor vehicle, aggravated assault against a public servant, unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon, and manufacture/delivery of a controlled substance in penalty group 1, weighing between 200 and 400 grams. The total bond amount for these charges has been set at $1,200,000.

In Texas, the possession of 200–400 grams of penalty group 1 drugs constitutes a first-degree felony, carrying a potential sentence of 5 to 99 years in state prison. Manufacturing or delivering this quantity is considered an enhanced felony 1, punishable by 10–99 years of imprisonment, along with a fine of up to $100,000.

Further compounding Williams' legal troubles, he has an extensive history of arrests in Hunt, Dallas, and Parker Counties. On December 8, 2023, the Hunt County Sheriff's Office added an additional charge for parole violation, indicating a potential escalation of legal consequences for Williams.
