In a dramatic turn of events, Quinlan Police Department and West Tawakoni Police Department units engaged in a pursuit of a red 2018 Ford F150 pick-up truck on December 3, 2023. The pursuit unfolded in the area of CR 3843 and Taylor Drive in Quinlan.
The pursuit concluded when Quinlan PD and Hunt County Sheriff's Deputies successfully cornered the suspect at the end of Taylor Drive. Officers had the suspect at gunpoint as the situation escalated when the individual reportedly placed a firearm to his own head.
American Medical Response (AMR) and Cash Fire Department (FD) were also on scene to provide support as needed.
Negotiators were called in to defuse the tense situation and engage with the distressed suspect.
Following successful negotiations, law enforcement managed to take the suicidal individual into custody without further incident. The suspect has been transported for mental health evaluation.
