On December 1, 2023, Jaheim Elshawn Lowe, a sophomore and football player for the Texas A&M-Commerce Lions, was arrested by University Police. Lowe, from Cedar Hill, faces charges related to the fraudulent use or possession of identifying information.
This is not Lowe's first encounter with the law, as he was previously arrested on August 3, 2023, in Commerce for burglary of a home. Despite the earlier arrest, Lowe played in eight games during the current Lions' season.
Before joining Texas A&M - Commerce, Lowe attended Cedar Hill High School and played as a linebacker. In 2021, he was part of the team that competed in the UIL Class 6A Division II State Championship Game, ultimately losing to Katy with a score of 51-14. Following that season, Lowe had interest from Division I schools, but underwent shoulder surgery. That led to his recruitment by Texas A&M-Commerce.
Efforts to obtain reactions from Defensive Coordinator Kyle Williams and Linebackers Coach Jack Tyler regarding Lowe's recent arrest and his status on the team have been unsuccessful as of now.
