Gerald Lee Adams, 61, of Sulphur Springs, has been sentenced to seven years in prison by Judge Eddie Northcutt in connection with a tragic vehicle crash that claimed the lives of four people in December 2022.
The incident occurred on State Highway 19 when Adams, traveling northbound, failed to control his speed and collided with the rear of two stationary vehicles waiting to make a left turn onto County Road 4764. The impact caused one of the vehicles to move into the southbound lane, resulting in a collision with two vehicles traveling south. Tragically, all passengers in that vehicle lost their lives on the scene.
A total of nine individuals were injured in the crash and were promptly transported to a hospital in Sulphur Springs for medical attention.
The investigation revealed that Adams was deemed "inattentive" at the time of the crash, with authorities attributing his lack of focus to personal issues.
