Cumby Police Officers Arrests Arkansas Woman on Drug Charges and for Attempting to Use Daughter's ID

Shante Graves

On Wednesday, November 29, 2023, shortly after 10:00 p.m., a routine traffic stop conducted by a Cumby Police Department officer on Eastbound I-30 near the 115-mile marker took an unexpected turn. The officer pulled over a vehicle that lacked a visible license plate.

Upon approaching the driver, identified as Shante Graves, 47, from Little Rock, Arkansas, the officer discovered discrepancies in the presented identification. Graves initially provided a driver's license under the name K.M. for privacy purposes, but two pill bottles found in the vehicle displayed the names L.W. and Shante Fleming.

When questioned about the pills, Graves claimed they belonged to her mother and her mother's friend. A subsequent probable cause search of the vehicle revealed a total of five pill bottles, with varying labels. The bottles contained a mix of schedule 2 and 3 pills, along with one "M30" pill, classified as a schedule 1 drug.

Upon further investigation, Graves admitted that she had deliberately used her daughter's driver's license, K.M., as her own license was suspended. She believed that providing a valid license would lead to leniency from the officer.

Shante Graves was placed under arrest for providing false identification, possession of controlled substances from CSA 2 and 3, dangerous drugs, and one schedule 1 drug ("M30" pill). She was subsequently transported to Hopkins County Jail.

Shante Graves, now identified as the true identity, faces the following charges:

  1. FRAUD USE/POSS IDENTIFYING INFO # OF ITEMS <5
  2. FAIL TO IDENTIFY GIVING FALSE/FICTITIOUS INFO
  3. POSS CS PG 1/1-B <1G
  4. POSS DANGEROUS DRUG
  5. POSS CS PG 3< 28G
  6. POSS CS PG 2 < 1G
