Deputies from the Delta County Sheriff's Office successfully apprehended a wanted suspect, identified as 44-year-old Benjamin Brister, on Thursday. Acting on credible information, deputies located Brister at a residence in the 400 block of Terrell Street in Cooper, Texas, where he was in the process of loading a moving truck to relocate to Oklahoma.
Upon seeing deputies approaching, Brister attempted to flee the scene. He dashed out through the back door and found himself confronted by a deputy, realizing he was surrounded. With no other option, Brister surrendered and was taken into custody. He was arrested for outstanding warrants and served with an additional warrant for parole violation.
Initially, in an attempt to evade arrest, false information was provided to the deputies, suggesting that Brister had committed suicide in the Dallas area. However, authorities quickly debunked this claim as none of the provided details could be verified.
Brister was transported to the Delta County Jail, where he was booked on a Misdemeanor A warrant for Interference with Emergency Request for Assistance and a Misdemeanor A warrant for Assault Causes Bodily Injury on a Family Member. Additionally, he faced a probation violation warrant for a State Jail Felony Possession of a Controlled Substance in a Drug-Free Zone Penalty Group 1 Under 1 Gram. Brister is currently in custody, held on an $8,000 bond for the initial warrants and with no bond for the parole violation.
