On Sunday, August 20, 2023, at approximately 1:12 a.m., the Arlington Police Department responded to a single-vehicle wreck in the 7600 block of Calender Road.

Investigators believe the driver of a 2021 Toyota Tacoma was traveling at a high rate of speed as he was coming around a curve, causing him to veer off the roadway, strike a fire hydrant, then roll multiple times before landing in a ditch.

The driver, a 28-year-old male, was pronounced deceased at the scene. He was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.

There was no one else inside the truck.

The Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office will identify the deceased once next of kin have been notified.
