A disturbing incident unfolded shortly before midnight on August 12, 2023, as the Bonham Police Department responded to reports of an aggravated assault with a deadly weapon at Juba Pizza Bar. Upon arrival, officers discovered that a physical altercation had occurred, during which the suspect produced a knife and stabbed the victim in the neck. Immediate medical assistance was provided by officers until Bonham EMS arrived. The Texas Department of Public Safety and Fannin County Sheriff’s Office also responded to the scene.
Following the altercation, a 911 call was placed by an individual who had given a ride to a person matching the suspect's description to Lake Bonham RV campground. Law enforcement swiftly located the individual, identified as 27-year-old Dakota Bishop, and apprehended him. Bishop confessed to his involvement in the altercation and subsequent stabbing.
Dakota Bishop has been booked into Fannin County Jail, facing a charge of Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon. The victim's condition remains undisclosed.
