The Bonham High School Choir is celebrating a remarkable achievement as senior Cesli Crum returns from a two-week musical journey in Australia as part of the prestigious WorldStrides Honors Performance Series. The talented vocalist showcased her skills alongside a select group of exceptional young artists under the guidance of Grammy award-winning conductor Jeffery Redding.
Cesli's journey to this international stage began last year when she successfully auditioned, securing her spot among a handful of exceptional singers chosen from a pool of thousands. Her dedication and passion for music led her to undertake an intensive preparation regimen, involving the study of college-level repertoire from as early as May. With unwavering commitment, she dedicated countless hours throughout the summer to perfecting challenging choral pieces, often collaborating closely with her mentor, Ms. Waller, at Bonham High School.
The pinnacle of Cesli's journey was her opportunity to perform at the iconic Sydney Opera House, a dream come true for any musician. The resonance of her voice within its hallowed halls was undoubtedly a defining moment in her musical career. Beyond the stage, Cesli embraced the vibrant Australian culture, embarking on adventures that included whale watching, exploring the majestic Three Sisters mountains, and basking in the beauty of the country's picturesque beaches. Visits to the Sydney Aquarium and the Sydney Zoo rounded out her unforgettable experience.
"BHS Choir is so proud of Cesli and how she represented her program, school, and state! She will now begin preparing to perform at NYC's Carnegie Hall in February 2024 along with Aubrey Townsend, sophomore. Both of these students worked with Ms. Waller and Kenneth Ussery to perfect solo pieces over the summer for their audition process," posted Bonham ISD to it's facebook page.
