ROYSE CITY, Texas — Hunt Regional Healthcare has officially opened a new emergency department in Royse City, expanding access to emergency medical services in one of the fastest-growing areas of Northeast Texas.
The emergency department at Hunt Regional Medical Center Royse City began seeing patients on June 1, 2026. The facility is located approximately one-half mile east of FM 2642 along Interstate 30 in western Hunt County.
The new 12-bed emergency department is part of a 65,000-square-foot medical complex that also houses multiple primary care and specialty clinics.
Construction of the facility was completed in 2025 through a partnership with NexCore Group, a national healthcare real estate investment and development company.
Hospital officials said the emergency department is staffed around the clock and supported by a multidisciplinary trauma team available at all times.
"This is a fast-growing area, and the increasing population has a need for advanced medical services," said Hunt Regional Healthcare Chief Executive Officer Lee Boles. "Most insurance, including Medicare, Medicaid, and Tricare, is accepted at our emergency department, and it is open 24 hours a day."
According to Hunt Regional Healthcare, experienced emergency department personnel transferred to the Royse City location, while additional staff members were hired to meet the needs of the growing community.
The medical center campus also includes an ambulance bay and a helipad to support emergency transportation needs. American Medical Response (AMR) provides ambulance service coverage for Hunt County and Royse City, while other ambulance providers may assist with patient transfers as needed.
Hospital officials reminded residents to call 911 during time-sensitive emergencies so paramedics and emergency medical technicians can begin treatment immediately.
The opening of the emergency department marks the latest expansion of healthcare services in Royse City as the community continues to experience rapid residential and commercial growth.
