KAUFMAN, Texas — A late-night apartment fire displaced a family but caused no injuries after firefighters quickly contained the blaze Monday night, according to the Kaufman Fire Department.
The Kaufman County 911 Communications Center dispatched fire crews to a reported apartment fire in the 100 block of Hampton Court at approximately 10:51 p.m. on June 8.
Kaufman Fire Engine 1 arrived on scene and reported a light haze of smoke coming from a second-floor apartment unit. Engine 1 Lieutenant Tanner Jones confirmed that all occupants had safely evacuated and conducted a secondary search to ensure no additional residents remained inside the affected apartments.
Firefighters simultaneously began suppression efforts and were able to quickly contain the fire.
Three residents were home at the time of the incident and escaped without injury. Authorities said the fire was confined to a single apartment unit.
The American Red Cross was notified and responded to assist the displaced family.
A total of 18 firefighters from the Kaufman Fire Department and neighboring agencies responded to the scene. Officials said the fire was brought under control in less than 17 minutes through a coordinated response.
The Kaufman County Fire Marshal's Office investigated the incident and determined the fire was electrical in nature.
No injuries were reported among residents or firefighters.
The Kaufman Fire Department thanked responding personnel and partner agencies for their efforts in protecting residents and limiting damage to the property.
